British swimming legend Mark Foster promotes the British Gas swimming team competing at the European Short Course Championships in Istanbul 10-13 Dec

The 13th European Short Course Swimming Championship are being held in Istanbul's Abdi Ipekci Arena from the 10th - 13th December 2009.The Abdi Ipekci Arena has been temporarily transformed into an Olympic swimming pool. The 31-strong British Gas Swimming Team taking part in the LEN European Short Course are all driven by an ambition of competing in London 2012.

There will be new European Champions in at least nine of the 38 events, due to the current title holders being absent form this years event, such as Austrian swimmer Dinko Jukic in the 400m individual medley. 88 of the 115 medal winners in the 2008 event are competing again in Istanbul. At the 2008 European Short Course Swimming Championships, Russia was the most successful medal winning nation with eight gold, two silver and four bronze medals, followed by France (7-9-4) and Italy (5-5-8).
